Come and join our progressive team. We are looking for registered nurses to join our staff and work in Douglas House, caring for children and young adults with life threatening and life shortening conditions, including end of life care.
Band 5 (£22,128-£28,746) per annum depending on experience
Permanent - Full Time
You will be responsible for the holistic care of our patients, as well as supporting both the family and care team colleagues. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the key issues of caring for young adults with life limiting conditions, be adaptable, have advanced interpersonal skills and able to prioritise competing demands in a busy environment. You will act as a professional role model and contribute to the provision and maintenance of high standards of care and the day to day running of the House. You will be asked to support the team leader as required.
Who we are looking for:
- A registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Evidence of on-going continuing professional development linked to demonstrable clinical
- Someone with demonstrable experience of working with patients with complex and acute
- A nurse with experience of working on own initiative and organising and prioritising own and
workload of others as shift co-ordinator (delegation of tasks, setting and monitoring
standards, motivating, giving feedback.
- A skilled communicator, able to adapt communications with a wide range of people and
situations, such as patients with specific communication needs or situations of high emotion
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of young adults with life-limiting conditions

Helen & Douglas House, a local Oxford-based charity, cares for terminally ill children, young adults and their families through exceptional hospice care. We provide medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together. As a charity we rely almost entirely on donations to support our work and the income from our almost 40 shops plays a huge part in maintaining our on-going provision of care.
