Sometimes taking part in, or organising a specific fundraising event in remembrance of a loved one, such as a run or a walk, can be a very positive way to honour their memory. These may then develop into annual events, often to mark poignant dates such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Fundraising in memory of Teddy Ray

Team Teddy RayWhen Rebecca and Ryan lost their baby son, Teddy Ray, Sarah-Jane wanted to do something to help.

“Sometimes love lasts a moment. Sometimes love lasts a lifetime. Sometimes a moment is a lifetime”

Rebecca and Ryan’s much longed for and much loved baby boy, Teddy Ray, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at only four months old. As a family they will always love and remember Teddy. Setting up Teddy’s Butterfly Tribute Fund was an extension of this.

Sarah-Jane knew Rebecca through her daughters’ nursery and devastated for her and Ryan; she wanted to do something in memory of Teddy Ray.  Together, Sarah-Jane, Claire, Helle, Michelle, Sarah and Louise took on the challenge of the Bupa Great Manchester Run to honour Teddy’s memory and raise money for their chosen charity - Team Teddy Ray was born.

Setting up a fundraising page in memory of your loved one

If you are bringing family and friends together for an event to celebrate the life of someone special whilst raising money to help seriously ill children and their families, why not set up a special page on Justgiving.com. Here you can tell the story of the person you’re remembering in words, photos and videos. Friends and family can give to your page easily, safely and securely wherever they are and whenever they want to donate.  They can also choose to hide the amount they give or donate anonymously.

You can make your page here.

Whether you want to get active with one of our runs or challenges or would rather organise your own event like a walk, run, or something at home or work, we’ll support you all the way.  Find out more about our events here.
