The Disabled Children’s Partnership (DCP), of which Together for Short Lives is a member, is asking you to write to your MP(s) to request that they work with ministers to fill the £1.5billion funding gap in disabled children’s services, which includes money for short breaks for respite for children with life-limiting conditions.
The government is currently undertaking a wide-ranging spending review, which will determine how much different departments have to spend in the years ahead.
As part of this process, the DCP – a coalition of over 60 organisations campaigning for better health and social care for disabled children – are keen for ministers to provide more money to local authorities to help them fund short breaks equitably and sustainably.
