Together for Short Lives was delighted to be chosen as Hobbycraft’s first Charity of the Year in 2012. Based on our shared belief in the power of art and crafts to improve lives and encourage families to spend time together, the partnership is now in its sixth year and has raised over £1.3 million. Hobbycraft staff have engaged right across the business and been inspired to exceed all expectations with their fundraising.
What we’ve achieved
We’ve enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Hobbycraft, and have raised over £1,300,000 to date. Teams from Hobbycraft have completed yearly bespoke challenge events including the Coast to Coast Cycle, Dales Way Trek, Tarka Trail, Two Moors Way and The South Downs.
For Christmas 2018, Hobbycraft created an amazing festive film featuring two very special stars – four-year-old Lizzie from Bristol – and a ‘Shine Together’ Hanging Ceramic Star Decoration that was sold in-store to benefit Together for Short Lives. The stars quickly sold out – with fifty pence from every star sold helping to continue the vital work the children’s hospices do with families around the UK.
You can watch the film below.
raised by Hobbycraft colleagues and customers in seven years
With 95 stores around the country, Hobbycraft colleagues regularly take part in coordinated themed activities throughout the year, arranging bake sales, fancy dress, crafting sessions and raffles in support of their local hospices. The creativity and enthusiasm from all involved is impressive!
Hobbycraft’s in-store carrier bag levy is also donated to Together for Short Lives and when paying by chip and pin at the till customers are invited to donate 20p via Pennies the digital charity box. So far, Hobbycraft have had over 2,000,000 Pennies transactions in-store!
