Children’s Hospice Week is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the 49,000 children across the UK living with life-limiting conditions, and the lifeline services that support them.
“Life’s short” is something we all say: we say it when we want to do something fun, something a bit silly, and when we want to take a chance.
Our 2018 Children’s Hospice Week campaign focused on what we mean when we say “Life’s short” – we all want to make the most of every minute and do more of what we love.
For children with life-limiting conditions and their families, “Life’s Short” has a poignant meaning: they simple do not have time to waste.
We asked seriously ill children across the UK what they enjoy most and what they wish they could do more of. From “swimming with mum” to “cuddles in bed”, we learned that these children want what we all want – to have fun and make memories with the people they love.
For many children with life-limiting conditions, these experiences are made possible with a little extra support, whether that’s nursing care, a wheelchair-accessible climbing frame, or a hydrotherapy pool. Children’s hospice services help families to create more special moments that matter by providing the care, equipment and space they need.
Children’s Hospice Week is our annual national campaign and we’re proud to have some amazing partners supporting the campaign. This year we were supported by partners including Disney, Royal Mail and Hobbycraft.

Disney UK is proud to be supporting Children’s Hospice Week as part of our wider social purpose programme. By working with Together for Short Lives and children’s hospices we can create Moments that Matter for children and those closest to them when they need it the most; helping to build emotional resilience through positive shared social experiences.Sara Hanson, Director Charitable Programmes at Disney UK
