Would you like to work with remarkable colleagues in a lovely, homely setting while acting as an advocate for Helen & Douglas House and for Children’s Palliative Care? We invite you to employ your clinical expertise by joining our utterly dedicated nursing team as a Clinical Lead where you will have the opportunity to build a satisfying career where each day is different, and your contributions will be heard, valued, and appreciated!

Helen & Douglas House is a registered hospice charity based in Oxford, providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and their families. Hospice care is often profoundly misunderstood: the work we do is uplifting, positive and the impact we have is life changing! Our hospice is a bright, dynamic, and joyful place to work, providing a lovely outdoor garden space for our patients and staff to both enjoy. We foster a climate where team members feel able to openly question, debate and appropriately challenge their own and the practice of others to achieve clinical excellence.

As part of this role, you will have the ability to work autonomously: planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of children in the hospice who are on a Palliative Care or End of Life pathway, including symptom control. Your positive, caring, and non-judgmental attitude, and a willingness to learn will play a key role in supporting patients and designing our service to be centred around the care of the whole family. You will naturally be an active role model to the care team members, helping support their training and skills development needs.

You will be supported by our innovate leadership team who are keen to invest in your professional development. Your strong clinical leadership and management to our team of Nurses and Clinical Support Workers will encourage teamwork and empower the team to deliver excellent care. If you are looking to set the clinical bar for our entire care team, in support of our Head of Care, this role is for you!

Full-time and part-time hours (minimum of 4 days per week) considered. The postholder will be required to take part in the Senior Nurse weekend on-call rota.

Helen and Douglas House offer the following employee benefits:

– 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 28 days after 3 years, and 29 days after 5 years of service.

– We are a direction agency for the NHS Pension Scheme.

– Eye care voucher scheme.

– Cycle to work scheme.

– Occupational sick pay and maternity pay.

– Enhanced maternity leave and shared paternity leave.

– A flexible working environment.

– Subsidised staff dining facilities.

– Investment in your CPD.

– Employee Assistance Programme.

– Recommend a friend scheme.
