Who are we? Helen and Douglas House is a registered children’s hospice charity based in Oxford, providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and their families in Oxford and the surrounding counties. We work in partnership with parents and other multi-disciplinary professionals, providing palliative care expertise and developing clinical skills to ensure the individual needs of our patients are met.
The Outreach Nursing Team possesses a wealth of experience in specialist palliative care, supporting children, their families and professionals involved, with advice, symptom control support and management throughout the palliative care pathway in a variety of community settings. As a Children’s Outreach Nurse, you will need to be an autonomous practitioner with community experience and have the vision to deliver and support exceptional palliative care within a variety of settings that will make a real difference to children and their families. You will work as part of a wider team of other nurses, doctors, nursery nurses, Family Support Services and Volunteers within Helen and Douglas House as well as working collaboratively with external multi-disciplinary professionals in the child’s own community and help drive our service forward. This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position, but part-time hours will be considered.
