Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire, providing specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an individual to provide high quality, dynamic and inspiring leadership of the delivery and strategic development of our services, exhibiting a clear passion and commitment for our work. This is a development post leading to training to become a Clinical Nurse Manager with an individually tailored development pathway.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and work within an integrated care service to ensure the provision of a professional family centred service to families and children in both the hospice environment and in the community setting.
  • Taking responsibility for the co-ordination of short breaks sessions for families and emergency referrals delegating to skilled team members as appropriate.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of care by actively participating in standard setting, clinical audit, within the Clinical Governance framework and in accordance with St Barnabas Hospices and Chestnut Tree House policies and guidelines.
  • Maintaining specialist clinical skills to deliver high quality paediatric palliative care.
  • Ensuring on-going education and development is maintained at all times
  • Taking responsibility for the recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring effective induction and probation periods
  • Participating on the Senior Nurse On-Call service.
