Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. This Sunday Times Top 100 Not-For-Profit organisation is looking to appoint a Deputy Director of Care to work closely with the Director of Care to take national responsibility for contributing to and implementing the strategic development of service delivery.

Your confident, independent approach to achieving goals with an emphasis on schedule and quality will be recognised in our high-performing organisation. Reporting to the Director of Care Services, you will play a pivotal role in increasing our profile and reach with statutory bodies, and formalising partnership working. You will be responsible implementing the Care Strategy and internal liaison to ensure business development of care services across our care teams, collaborating effectively with colleagues across all departments.

A stimulating influencer, you will thrive setting quality standards and achieving success through your firm, direct and self-assured leadership style. Educated to degree level in health or social care (and with a recognised management qualification) you have significant demonstrable experience in a health or social care service at a senior level. A strategic, big picture thinker, you effectively weigh risk against benefit to make calculated decisions.

Comfortable with a broad remit and rapid shifts in priorities, you will initiate practical solutions to establish, develop and maintain links with external agencies as necessary to develop services. Having worked within a professional multi-disciplinary team, with proven experience of managing a distributed work-force, you will effectively line manage the National Managers Managers encouraging autonomy and independent management of regional teams. Tactically task focused you will use your experience of implementing Service Level Agreements to develop formalised working arrangements with other similar organisations i.e. Children’s Hospices/Voluntary Groups, to increase partnership working.

Comfortable with pressure and challenge, you use your excellent verbal and written skills to convey complex ideas or concepts in a way that is easily understood to professional and social audiences. Working with a sense of urgency and taking the initiative you will instigate and develop in house research and audit to inform strategic development. Applications will be particularly welcome from those skilled in children’s palliative care. Your strong presentation and IT skills will support your effective, disciplined working style.

Rainbow Trust is a national charity and location will be agreed on appointment. Frequent travel throughout England and overnight stays are requirements of the job.
