Tŷ Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative charities, caring for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions, and supporting families through the overwhelming experience of knowing their child is expected to die in childhood.

At our hospice in Sully on the beautiful South Wales coast, and across local communities in Wales, our multi-disciplinary team offers heartfelt and highly personalised clinical care, providing respite and support for the child, siblings and parents or caregivers, creating lasting memories and supporting them through end of life and beyond.

About the role

To deliver on our vision, a Wales where every child with a life-shortening condition lives a fulfilling life, supported with the compassion and specialist care they and their family need, we are seeking a highly experienced clinical leader who will inspire care colleagues to deliver expert clinical and wellbeing support. In this context, the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services role has been introduced to lead and develop our nursing and clinical services. Given the increasing complexity of need, having skilled and proactive clinical leadership has never been more important.

Sitting alongside our new Director of Family & Outreach Services post, the successful candidate will be responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of our hospice and clinical services function. Collaborating effectively with our multi-disciplinary team and peers across the health and social care network to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families, you will have demonstrable experience of leading collaborative, motivated high performing teams to deliver quality, safe, child-centred care.

With an excellent understanding of clinical governance and risk management, you will have a current professional registration with the NMC. As a key member of the executive and senior care leadership teams, experienced in business planning and budget management and with excellent interpersonal skills, you will be uniquely placed to shape, inform, and deliver our ambitious strategic and operational priorities. As a visible, ‘hands on’ leader, your remit will be to ensure quality and clinical performance is of a consistently high standard, while promoting a culture of practice improvement and service development.

As the successful candidate you will have strong problem-solving skills and a track record of shaping and delivering change initiatives and service improvements. With experience of partnership working across the health and social care arena, and engaging with statutory and regulatory bodies, you will be passionate about ensuring that children and families have a seamless experience. In this post you will also fulfil the statutory role and requirements of the Registered Manager with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.

If you are seeking to join a purpose-led organisation where you can make a tangible and lasting difference to the experiences of the children and families who inspire us every day, we would love to hear from you.
