The role:

This is a great opportunity to join our hard-working and focused finance team. You will work closely with the Assistant Accountant to provide support for the Charity’s work as well as working alongside the Management Accountant to manage the finance systems, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the accounting, cash, asset and payroll systems.

The position requires a desire to learn and develop in a finance role. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail as well as being self-motivated and organised, with the ability to be able to work independently as well as part of a team is very important.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

Educated to AAT NVQ Level 3 with Maths & English GCSE.

Good IT skills; ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Training will also be given, especially in Excel.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, in person, by telephone and by email.

Helen & Douglas House, based in Oxford, is the world’s first children’s hospice. We care for terminally ill babies, children and young people and their families at our hospice and at home. It is a special place that feels like home, where families can make the most of their time together and create happy memories during their children’s short lives. As a charity, we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations to support our work.
