University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is committed to delivering excellent palliative care and bereavement support for children and families.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated individual to take up the position of Lead Nurse for Paediatric Palliative Care & Bereavement Support at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and St Michael’s Hospital.
UHBristol NHS Foundation Trust recognises the importance of improving access to palliative care support for children when in our hospitals but also when at home or being cared for in other settings across the region. We expect that the post holder will play a key role in furthering the progress of exciting developments taking place in paediatric palliative care provision in the local Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) area and also more broadly across the South West region.
The successful candidate will provide nursing leadership for the UHBristol Paediatric Palliative Care and Bereavement Support Team. He/she will contribute to the leadership and pursuit of excellence in the delivery of paediatric palliative care and bereavement support by providing expertise in the areas of clinical service provision, service development, education and research across the organisation.
The UHB Paediatric Palliative Care & Bereavement Support Team delivers high quality holistic care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening illness and their families from diagnosis, throughout life, during end of life care. Through commitment to a model of facilitating and empowering others, it ensures that all staff have the required knowledge & skills to deliver care of the highest quality. The Paediatric Palliative Care & Bereavement Support Team also coordinates bereavement support for families following the death of a child at the hospital.
We are really excited about the future of paediatric palliative care and bereavement support in Bristol and look forward to appointing an individual who shares our commitment to put children and families at the heart of our care, making a positive difference through life, death and bereavement.
