What’s it like working here?

You’ll join a supportive, multi-disciplinary team delivering psychosocial and therapeutic based support to siblings of children cared for by Acorns. We tailor our care packages to meet each child’s medical, emotional and spiritual needs and there’s time here to focus on patients – this really appeals to some people.

What you can add…

Your role would be to undertake assessments of siblings’ needs to identify desired outcomes and plan and review support accordingly. You will provide pre and post bereavement support on an individual and group basis, taking a lead responsibility for co-ordinating and delivering residential weekends, closed and open therapeutic based groups and workshops according to the identified needs of the service.

Support will be provided to you by your Family Service Manager.

About you

You will be professionally qualified (including vocational qualifications) in an area such as Social Work, BACP qualified counsellor, Community Nursing, Play Specialist, Youth work or equivalent.

You will have experience of direct work with children, providing 1 to 1 therapeutic based support and co-ordinating and delivering therapeutic based group work with children and young people. You will also have experience of managing a caseload.

Experience of supporting families who are living with a life-limited or life threatening condition or have experienced loss or bereavement is desirable although not essential. You will work some unsocial hours and be able to travel independently.
