Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire, providing specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

This is an exciting time to join the Chestnut tree clinical team whilst we are undergoing service transformation and development. We are investing in a wide range or roles within the clinical team to support our outreach and engagement with children, young people and families.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and passionate newly qualified nurses to provide children/young people (CYP’s) palliative care as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working in the Chestnut Tree care team. Children’s palliative care involves delivering short respite breaks aimed at having fun and living well with life-limited conditions as well as end of life care.

We have a mixture of paediatric nurses, adult nurses and learning disability nurses working in the in-house team. You do not need to have experience of working in palliative care as Chestnut tree hospice offers a comprehensive development and preceptorship programme along with in-house training which can be delivered to support staff to achieve clinical skills.

The post holder will also have opportunities if desired, to develop in, and support community short breaks in children and young people’s homes. We are striving for excellence and have new workstreams to support transition, palliative care, learning disabilities, patient experience and patient safety. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop skills and contribute to these areas of development.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role and requires dedication and commitment to ensure children and young people are at the centre of care.
