We’re inviting members to attend a short training session to become Turn2Us partners. This will let you apply for grants of up to £1000 for families who are experiencing financial hardship following a life-changing event.
Together for Short Lives has been an intermediary partner for the fund since 2017 and is keen to extend access by families to the fund by offering bespoke training to members of your family support teams.
SMA Support UK, who attended previous training in Feb 2019:
“We’ve successfully applied for Turn2Us response fund grants for two families and are in the middle of a third. Each one takes a while, but very helpful so thanks again for that.”
Although families can access this support via the Helpline, the process is simplified when the referrer knows the family personally. Training is mandatory in order to apply on behalf of families you work with.
Following her daughter’s death, a single mother was in the process of moving from her adapted house to a non-adapted house closer to the two younger siblings’ schools. Although the house was provided by the council, the mother didn’t have any funds for curtains and carpets. She was also keen to buy a headstone for her daughter’s grave.
After a successful application to the Turn2Us Response Fund, funds were transferred to the mother’s account to pay for essential household items including the purchase and fitting of carpets and curtains. An additional discretionary fund was also provided that was spent towards a headstone.
Any members of staff wishing to attend the training should email Hannah Davenport at Hannah.email@example.com with the following information for each delegate:
