When a child’s life is expected to be short, there’s no time to waste.

Together for Short Lives is the UK charity that is here to make sure the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families can make the most of every moment they have together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours.

The past year has seen an exciting period of growth for Together for Short Lives, with a growth in income and new services launched.

Our partnership with Morrisons kicked off in February 2022, and so far has already raised over £5,000,000 to support seriously ill children and families, and the children’s hospices they rely upon. The partnership has enabled us to take on Family Outreach workers in Birmingham, Manchester and Luton, to make children’s palliative care more accessible to everyone who needs it.

In addition we have also received funding from the Kentown Wizard Foundation which has enabled us to launch new services in collaboration Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, in Lancashire and Cumbria. Together we’re working with the local NHS to help coordinate care and help families navigate their way through this complex world of services.

It’s been a tough year for families and the cost of living crisis meant the winter was particularly hard – in response we launched an emergency cost of living fund which helped us give direct cost of living grant payments of £250 to hundreds of families who are caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. We have also continued to offer support to families through our helpline and online support hub.

We have also continued to work with professionals, politicians and policy makers to develop better children’s palliative care across the country. This includes a successful campaign to protect the £25 million children’s hospice grant that was set to finish next April. We also found time to among all this activity to launch our new ten year strategy.

We can’t do any of this without your continued support so more than ever we’d like to thank everyone who has continued to support our work.
