ICB responses to FOI about children's hospice funding - draft to share with children's hospices

Together for Short Lives issued freedom of information requests to NHS Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) in England in May 2023, to review statutory funding of children’s palliative care services from 2022 to 2024.

These requests aimed to help us understand the distribution of funds by ICBs to children’s hospices.

The requests asked ICBs:

Please set out how much money your integrated care board spent on hospice care for
children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions between 6 April
2022 and 5 April 2023. Please provide a total, in addition to a breakdown of funding per
children’s hospice organisation.
Please set out how many children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening
conditions who live in your integrated care board footprint accessed hospice care between
6 April 2022 and 5 April 2023. Please provide a total, in addition to a breakdown of funding
per hospice organisation.
Please set out how many children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening
conditions who live in your integrated care board footprint could benefit from children’s
hospice care.

Some ICBs were also able to tell us how much money they plan to spend on hospice care for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions between 6 April 2023 and 5 April 2024.
