News and comment

The incredibly talented and creative M&S Romford team are aiming for top of the pops with the release of their Christmas song and video today in partnership with TikTok entitled ‘This is not just a Christmas song’, with profits from the sale of the song going to Together for Short Lives and Shelter.

The song, penned by Romford store Team Support Manager Jack Brooker, celebrates all that is great about M&S Food this Christmas, from their delicious Pigs in Blankets festive sandwiches to the iconic Snow Globe Gin Liqueur. Jack said: “The whole store is buzzing about the song and video and we are so excited that we can use the focus on our TikTok videos to raise money for good causes.”

Team Romford went viral with their entertaining TikTok videos this Autumn notching up 1.3m likes and praise being received from celebrities including Michelle Keagan, Demi Jones and Clara Amfo. Fans called for the team to launch a Christmas song – and we can see it reaching no 1!

TikTok are celebrating the launch of the song with an exclusive ‘story of’ video this week, which charts the epic rise of Team Romford and shows how TikTok can inspire communities to come together through joy and creativity.

James Stafford, Head of Partnerships & Community, TikTok UK comments: “The M&S Romford account really has captured the hearts of the British TikTok community with their joyful in-store antics, bringing humour to the everyday and giving us all a reason to smile! We are delighted to partner with M&S on the launch of their first Christmas song single and we wish the M&S Romford team all the very best as they raise money for two very worthwhile causes this Christmas!”

Andy Fletcher, CEO, Together for Short Lives said: “We are so grateful to the talented team at M&S Romford for supporting Together for Short Lives with their Christmas song. This Christmas will sadly see many families caring for a seriously ill child feeling pushed to their limits. Proceeds from this special song will help ensure that the 54 UK children’s hospices who provide an absolute lifeline for these families, aren’t pushed to theirs. Support for Team Romford has been off the charts since they made their TikTok debut and we’re really excited to be part of their journey this Christmas!”

The track can be downloaded here and will be available in the Sounds and Discover page on TikTok.
