Hobbycraft high with award win and £1,000,000 milestone

News and comment

Hobbycraft, the UK’s largest craft retailer, has raised an amazing £1 million for children’s hospices thanks to the incredible efforts of its customers and colleagues in support of its charity partnership with Together for Short Lives.

The milestone comes in the same year that Hobbycraft also hit one million transactions through its till-point ‘pennies’ donations to Together for Short Lives, and hot on the heels of a recent win at the Business Charity Awards, where Hobbycraft and Together for Short Lives’ partnership was named the winner in the Fashion/Retail Sector category.

With a shared belief in the therapeutic power of art and crating, the partnership between Hobbycraft and Together for Short Lives is now in its sixth year raising, vital funds and creating awareness for UK’s children’s hospice services.

Dominic Jordan, Chairman and CEO at Hobbycraft comments: ““We were ecstatic to learn that we’d won a Business Charity Award for our work with Together for Short Lives. We were up against some tough competition, so it’s great to see crafting come out on top. And hitting £1,000,000 – what an achievement! We have so many reasons to celebrate, and we will!”

"We’ve been working together for many years and they’re an inspirational charity."

Polly Shute, Executive Director of Fundraising at Together for Short Lives said: “I am extremely proud of our amazing partnership with Hobbycraft. They continuously inspire us with their ingenuity and passionate fundraising ideas – raising £1,000,000 over these six wonderful years has been a dream come true. I am so very pleased that Hobbycraft have won this award – it is wholly deserved. This will drive us to work even more closely with them and our member children’s hospices so that together we can continue supporting the 49,000+ children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, and their families.”
