Hays smash fundraising target

News and comment

Hays, one of the largest recruitment businesses in the UK, has raised an amazing £251,240 for local children’s hospices over its two-year partnership with Together for Short Lives.

The charity of the year partnership set a fundraising target of £120,000 with the aim of funding 6,000 hours of care for seriously ill children and their families at children’s hospices across the UK. But the energetic and enthusiastic fundraising efforts of the team from Hays saw the final amount more the double the initial target.

From the outset, staff from across the business enthusiastically got involved, dressing up, baking cakes, getting muddy, climbing mountains and much more. Some of the fantastic highlights from the partnership included:

  • Over 30 members of staff from offices right across the UK taking on the Power Peaks challenge, trekking 26 miles through the rain and fog of the Peak District and raising £19,000 in the process.
  • A huge team from the London Cheapside office pushing themselves to the limit as they took on ice cold pools, mud trenches and electric gauntlets of Tough Mudder to raise over £7,000.
  • An enthusiastic team from Hays Amey conquered Mount Snowdon and raised £10,000 for their efforts.

Nick Appleby, Head of Corporate Fundraising at Together for Short Lives said: “We are overwhelmed with the amount raised by Hays during our two-year partnership. Everyone has shown a huge amount of commitment and enthusiasm to the partnership and we are so grateful. Their support has raised vital funds for seriously ill children and their families who rely on the crucial care provided by their local children’s hospice. A huge thank you from everyone at Together for Short Lives.”
