Michael is the chief nurse at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, an associate professor of children’s palliative care at the University of Bradford, specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commission, and a member of our advisory council.

Michael is a children’s nurse, health visitor, and advanced nurse practitioner. Michael has led work across the Yorkshire and Humber region to increase access to community-based palliative care, though multiagency pathway development and shared education initiatives. His work has been recognised by the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing and Association of British Paediatric Nurses. Most recently, Michael was invited to join the government’s health and Social Care Select Committee’s Independent Expert Panel for Palliative and End of Life Care as one of five national experts who will work alongside the core members of the Expert Panel, to undertake an evaluation into the state of palliative care in England.
