Celebrities show Superhero support for Children’s Hospice Week

News and comment

It’s set to be a superhero sprint to the start of Children’s Hospice Week this year thanks to sporty celebrities thinking like heroes and showing their support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Rebecca Adlington, Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle are just some of the sporting names to have chosen their favourite Superpower in recognition of the UK’s children’s hospices which, just like superheroes, are there for children and families when they need them most.

Children’s Hospice Week is all about heroes.  If I could choose any superpower, I would choose invisibility so that I could sneak up and play pranks on people!  Please be a hero for an hour and help families make the most of the precious time they have together.

Louis Smith, Gymnast

Children’s Hospice Week is the UK’s only awareness and fundraising week for children with life-limiting conditions and the services, like children’s hospices, that support them. It takes place this year between 26 April and 3 May, culminating with Superhero Friday – a special day of hero inspired fundraising. Together for Short Lives, the national charity leading the week is supported by Patrons Simon Cowell and Holly Willoughby.

Underwater Breathing, Invisibility and Animal Morphing are amongst the other superpowers picked by celebrities who have shown their support for Children’s Hospice Week so far:

Rebecca Adlington (Swimmer): Underwater Breathing

Beth Tweddle (Gymnast): Multiple Me

Rick Waddon (Racing cyclist & Paralympian): Flying

Helen Skelton, TV Presenter: Animal Morphing

Joanna Lumley, Actress: Time Travel and X-Ray Vision
