Katie Tallowin

Katie Tallowin joined Together for Short Lives in May 2023 as Head of Education and Professional Development. Initially combining this role with clinical work, she now works full-time, leading the organisation’s education, training, and professional development offer. Katie’s work focuses on bringing together knowledge-sharing, innovative practice, and research to strengthen learning opportunities across children’s palliative care services.
Katie is an experienced children’s nurse, with most of her career spent working in Neonatal Intensive Care across various Level 3 Neonatal Units, including roles as a Neonatal Transport Nurse. She has also worked as a Neonatal and Paediatric Nursing Lecturer and later returned to clinical practice as a Neonatal Educator. In this role, she led the development of an accredited Postgraduate Certificate as part of Qualified in Specialty (QIS) training for neonatal nurses.
Alongside her neonatal expertise, Katie has experience in paediatric palliative care, having worked in children’s hospices and community settings. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical and Healthcare Education and, through her academic work, explored healthcare professionals’ perceptions of neonatal palliative and end of life care—leading to the development of tailored education to support practice in this area.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys time with her husband and children, walking their dog in the countryside.
