When a parent feels lost or alone, our Family Support Hub is just a call away. Each year we support thousands of families of seriously ill children through their toughest times. With expert information that’s easy to access and a friendly voice at the end of the line, we are there for any parent, no matter what life throws at them. Whether they need practical help or advice about home life, emotional support to cope with diagnosis or grief or financial aid with bills or costs, we’re here for them.
But our Hub wouldn’t run or be able to support the wonderful families like Donna and Mary above without the kind support of people like you. We are so grateful for every penny donated, whether given or raised.
One of the ways you help us support families caring for a seriously ill child is to relieve some of the financial struggles they face. Many families have extra bills due to the equipment they must run for their child. Equipment such as ventilation machines or oxygen tanks. And often, one parent will have to give up work to care full-time for their child.
Being able to do a full week’s food shop isn’t something many of us have to worry about, but many families reach out to our Family Support Hub looking for help. Because of you – we can answer this call and have answered hundreds over the past months.
Over 400 food shops delivered
Due to your donations – particularly in response to our Every Moment is a Gift Christmas appeal – since November, we have been able to deliver over 400 food shops to families struggling to fill their cupboards.

Words of thanks from those you’ve helped
It’s hard for us to put into words the impact this has on the families who needed this support. So we thought we would share what it means to them, in their own words.
Myself and my family are very grateful for the very generous hamper we had delivered. Our lives over the past twelve months have been turned upside down both emotionally and financially. Thank you for your kindness and support.
I can’t tell you how much that made a difference to our family. With your help, we were able to go and get meals for proper dinners, were able to buy some stuff for lunch which we had stopped, and we even got a small tin of shortbread. We are forever grateful to Together for Short Lives. Thank you so much
To be able to get a food shop was a huge help, especially over the Christmas period. My daughter chose a couple of things to have blended for her meals and we also got to buy a meal for a little date night as my husband and I don't get to out much for meals. It was nice to be able to treat ourselves.
Christmas was a really difficult time for me since it was the first Christmas without my son. I was able to get a food shop for easy meals for my daughter and I, which meant on days I was deep in my grief I didn't have to think about what to cook.
A huge thank you to every single one of you for supporting Together for Short Lives and the families who reach out to us via our Family Support Hub. Seriously ill children and their families deserve the chance to live a full life, so thank you for being there alongside us. Step by step, hand in hand, day by day, so that no one has to face living through their child’s short life alone.
