Job Purpose
Provide strategic and operational leadership for community
fundraising, driving sustainable income growth, excellent supporter experiences and strong team performance. You’ll empower others to take ownership, encourage fresh thinking and build meaningful partnerships that reflect the unique strengths of the communities we serve. Through purposeful leadership and a genuine commitment to our supporters, you’ll help strengthen Bluebell Wood’s reach, reputation and impact.

You’ll lead and develop a small community fundraising team, setting clear priorities, supporting professional growth and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration and excellent supporter care.
You’ll drive the delivery of Bluebell Wood’s community fundraising programme, identifying opportunities to grow support, engagement and income across schools, community groups, local networks and businesses. Building strong relationships and acting as an ambassador for the hospice, you’ll help raise awareness and inspire people to support our mission.
Working closely with Marketing and Communications and Volunteering colleagues, you’ll deliver engaging fundraising activity, strengthen supporter loyalty and develop volunteers and Community Ambassadors to advocate for the hospice within their communities.
Using data, insight and effective stewardship, you’ll ensure fundraising activity is well planned, supporters receive an excellent experience and performance is continually reviewed to support future growth.
What you’ll need:
We’re looking for a strategic and relationship-focused fundraiser who can inspire others, think creatively and turn insight into action. You will be motivated by making a difference and confident leading people, managing priorities and identifying opportunities for growth.
You’ll bring significant experience in community fundraising, supporter engagement and partnership development, with a proven track record of delivering income growth, working to budgets and targets, and building successful relationships across a range of community audiences.
You’ll be an effective communicator, comfortable presenting to different audiences, delivering compelling proposals and building support for new ideas. You’ll also have a strong understanding of fundraising regulations, GDPR and sector best practice, alongside experience using Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools.
Essential Criteria
• Strategic thinker with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver compelling pitches.
• Proven track record of strategic income generation with a creative and innovative approach.
• Significant experience in community fundraising and relationship management.
• Demonstrable success in securing and managing community partnerships.
• Proven experience of working within financial budgets and KPIs.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations, GDPR and best practice guidelines.
• Strong ability to build relationships and sustainable networks, as well as create new opportunities.
• Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, plus Zoom conferencing to intermediate level.
• Ability to research, identify and develop new business opportunities.

• Completion of a health assessment relevant to the role.
• A Standard DBS check.
• Two references.
