Chief Executive Andy Fletcher announces his departure from Together for Short Lives

News and comment

We are sad to announce that our Chief Executive, Andy Fletcher, will be leaving Together for Short Lives.

Andy joined the charity in 2018. During his time he led significant growth in the charity’s impact and income, extending support for families and professionals, supporting quality improvement in palliative care and successfully advocating for better funding.

Andy will be joining Muscular Dystrophy UK, the leading charity for 110,000 people in the UK living with one of over 60 muscle wasting and weakening conditions. He will start his role in November.

Andy will be very much missed by the team at Together for Short Lives, and across the children’s palliative care sector.

The recruitment for Andy’s replacement is already underway.

Andy said:

“Leading Together for Short Lives over the last six and a half years has been a real privilege and I have been lucky to work with some brilliant people – staff, volunteers, professionals working in children’s palliative care and, of course, children and families. I know that the charity will continue to go from strength to strength, helping to ensure that children and families get the high quality and sustainable support they need.”

Sarah Talbot-Williams, Chair of Together for Short Lives, said:

“Andy has been a real force for good since he joined Together for Short Lives. He has taken the charity to significant heights, enabling us to deliver more for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families and his leadership has made an important difference to the cohesion of the whole of the children’s palliative care sector across the UK. He is leaving us all in a stronger place. He will be hugely missed and we both thank him and wish him very well in his new role.”
