“I worry everyday about Mary but I’m grateful for every day we get because time is precious. Caring for a seriously ill child can be such a struggle. That’s why I reached out for Together for Short Lives.

They’ve supported me in many ways and are always there to listen.  They’ve recently helped with our energy bills which means we can stay a little bit warmer this Christmas. Knowing they are always there is a lifeline.”

Christmas should be a time to create memories

Every parent wants a joyful Christmas for their child and build memories to cherish. This is particularly important when your child is seriously ill. But many parents caring for a child with extensive health needs are having to choose between turning the heating on or doing a full food shop – let alone planning festive activities for their family.

Families are facing impossible choices and struggles

Whilst many of us may feel the pinch leading up to Christmas with presents to buy and food to prepare, families with seriously ill children are faced with many struggles – both emotionally and financially. But by donating today, you can help remove these struggles so they can spend less time worrying and more time building memories with their child.

The support came at the best time as the only spare money we had went on a few presents for my child who we were not sure would even be here at Christmas.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my family. The food shop made an enormous difference and took the huge burden of worrying what I can afford to buy.

After your child dies those initial costs can make life incredibly tough. The Butterfly Fund was a huge help at a time that was already hard.

Know where your donation goes

98p of every £1 donation will go directly towards supporting seriously ill children and their families.

We exist to work towards a future where every seriously ill child, and their family, receives high quality children’s palliative care when and where they need it. Your donation will go towards the work we do to provide support to families, uniting the sector, and campaigning for change. With your help, no family will face the journey of their child’s short life alone and can instead treasure every moment they have.
