About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are currently supporting around 300 families both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more. It costs more than £5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government sources.

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered children’s nurse with experience in palliative care and symptom control to join our established team, working both within the community and in the hospice. The successful applicant will be or working towards being an independent non-medical prescriber to ensure complex symptom management can be delivered to children and young people.
The role requires flexibility to cover a 24 hour on-call rota.

The requirements:

To fulfil the role effectively you will be enthusiastic with a commitment to developing the knowledge and skills not only of yourself but other care staff and agencies we work in partnership with.
You will have a high level of clinical expertise to provide specialist advice and support to children and their families with palliative care needs. You will be required to work both autonomously and as part of the team.

You will have a flexible approach to work showing dedication to developing the service both within the hospice and in the community ensuring that our children, young people and their families are at the centre of the care provided.
