Title: Hospice Doctor/General Practitioner with SI in Palliative Medicine

Hours: Part-time (18.5 hours per week). Consideration will also be given to applicants seeking full time (37 hours per week)

Salary/Grade: 18.5 hrs – €82,505 gross rising to €83,330 gross from 01 Jun 2026

Equivalent Pro Rata Full-time salary: €165,010 gross (37 hours) rising to €166,660 gross from 01 Jun 2026

Introduction:

The Hospice Doctor / GP will provide medical care in LauraLynn Children’s Hospice ensuring the delivery of a high-quality patient/service user centred service.

Working with medical colleagues, The Doctor / GP provides direct clinical care and all associated medical related activities, including participation in interdisciplinary meetings, family meetings and other relevant activities. The post holder will be required to liaise with other managers and staff in the LauraLynn Hospice service.

The post holder will contribute to overall management of the organisation as well as input as appropriate to the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria – ideally the successful candidate will possess the following:

MB BCH BAO or equivalent.

Full registration on the specialist division of the Medical Council of Ireland under the speciality of general practice or be eligible to apply to be included on this register.

Or

Current full registration on an alternative appropriate specialist division of the Medical Council of Ireland under an alternative specialism or eligible to be included on such register.

MICGP or MRCPI paediatrics, part 1 or MRCPCH Theory exam.

Clinical experience in: Acute paediatrics either during general practice post graduate training and/or paediatric training.

Completion of at least 4 years post-internship experience in paediatrics or general practice.

Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of multi-agency working in the context of management of children with life-limiting conditions.
