Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.
Our essential work wouldn’t be possible without our Housekeeping Team, who ensure that the Hospice remains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone.
We’re currently seeking a Housekeeper to join our dedicated team to help us maintain a safe, welcoming environment for the babies, children, young people, and families who need us most.
Hours:
This is a full-time role requiring 37.5 hours per week, worked on a rota basis. Shifts are 7.5 hours and will include weekends.
About the role:
As a Housekeeper at Rainbows, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of the Hospice.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Daily Cleaning: Ensure clinical, communal, and office areas are thoroughly cleaned to maintain a hygienic and welcoming environment.
- Deep Cleaning: Perform deep cleaning of clinical areas as required, in line with infection control procedures.
- Laundry Duties: Wash and maintain hospice linen (e.g., towels, bed linen) and personal clothing for children and young people. Keep the linen room tidy and fully stocked.
- Specialised Cleaning Tasks: Undertake tasks such as curtain changing, organising carpet cleaning, and steam-cleaning rugs and curtains.
- Safe Product Use: Store and use cleaning products in accordance with COSHH procedures.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience in a similar role (e.g., cleaning, housekeeping).
- Understand infection control guidelines, COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
- Be comfortable with manual handling (e.g., moving furniture), with manual handling training or qualifications desirable.
- Experience in a clinical environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
We’re looking for someone who is a team player with strong communication skills and the ability to treat all babies, children, young people, and families with dignity, respect, and understanding.
