An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nursing Associate who can work alongside the multi-professional team and the Registered Nurses at our CQC Outstanding rated Guildford based hospice, Christopher’s, to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and child/family needs.

As a leading children’s hospice charity, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across Surrey and London. Our aim is to deliver highly professional services which place children and young people with life-limiting conditions at the heart of everything we do. We’re always on the lookout for talented and caring people who want to join our fantastic team and make a difference to local families.

The successful applicant will have a Nursing Associate Foundation Degree from an approved nursing associate programme, will currently be on the NMC register, has and will have relevant clinical experience of working with children and families from a range of cultures and backgrounds.

Many of our children and young people have very complex health needs which will enable you to develop your clinical skills – including long-term ventilation. As well as providing hands on clinical care there is time for lots of fun. You’ll be swimming in our hydrotherapy pool, facilitating arts and crafts, going on outings and helping children to relax in our multi-sensory room.

In addition to using your current skill set to ensure children receive a first-class care service, our Practice Education Team will tailor a bespoke programme of support for you and develop your competencies in the latest procedures within palliative care.

We compare favourably with the NHS pay and conditions and in addition to an enhanced remuneration package and NHS pension, we offer free meals on duty, subsided staff accommodation in Guildford, free car parking and clinical supervision. You will be expected to participate in a rota to cover 24/7, working a reasonable share of weekends and public holidays.

We are pleased to confirm that our salaries reflect the recent pay award given to healthcare workers in the NHS.

The post will be based at Christopher’s Hospice in Guildford but will also need the successful candidate to travel to our other site in Hampton as required.

For further information about the role please contact Sharon Jones, Head of Hospice Services, on 01483 230960.

Please note that appointment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance
