Charlie House supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, across the north-east of Scotland. The goal is simple – to help children to live as full lives as possible and help make precious memories for the whole family at the most difficult of times.

We are seeking a Philanthropy Manager within the Fundraising & Marcomms team at Charlie House to play a crucial role in in securing high value donations from major donors and Trusts and Foundations.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, the post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan to deliver five to six figure gifts from major donors, trusts and foundations. Working to agreed income targets, you will proactively lead the cultivation and stewardship of prospective and existing supporters, with a focus on growing major donor income, harnessing the support of volunteer networks, warm supporters, and prospect research.

This post will play a key role in helping Charlie House raise vital income so that local children and families can get the support they need and help drive forward our Big Build Appeal to create a specialist care centre in Aberdeen for children, providing much needed respite, palliative and end-of-life care in the region.

We are looking for someone with 2-5 years’ experience in relationship building and in delivering income targets, whether in a fundraising environment or a similar role where comparable skills can be used to engage with high-level supporters and prospects. This role is for a poised, confident and compelling communicator, who excels at relationship building. You will have strong writing, presentation, negotiation, and networking skills, with a determination to succeed against financial targets so that local children can get the support they need to live life to the full.

Position: Philanthropy Manager

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week with a requirement for occasional unsocial hours for events, networking etc.

Some of the Responsibilities:

  • Support development and implementation of a high value strategy and programme (Grants & Trusts and Major Donors).
  • Create and manage a robust pipeline of 70-100 major donor and Grant & Trust funders, including researching and identifying new prospects, and undertaking due diligence.
  • Gather information and case studies, to distil and craft high quality, well-articulated cases for support, grant applications and funding
    proposals.
  • Organise and support high value cultivation and stewardship events to engage donors and prospects with the work of the charity
