Great news for children’s hospices across the UK as Morrisons reveal they have raised £486,170 in one fundraising event for our partnership, taking the partnership fundraising to over £6 million!
The Butterfly Trail saw colleagues at over 500 Morrisons stores and sites welcome the Together for Short Lives butterfly for a special nationwide relay event with the aim to each raise £500, before passing it onto the next store. Through raffles and fancy dress, ice bath challenges and head shaves, colleagues have thrown themselves into raising money as part of the trail event. And thanks to help from local businesses, the butterfly has made its way onto the next location in style, via classic car, emergency services, on horseback and even by hovercraft.
Izzy, who was born with renal kidney failure, was involved in The Butterfly Trail launch that saw her taking the butterfly from her home to her local Morrisons store in Bristol before it started travelling across the country. Izzy and her family have been supported by Jessie May children’s hospice and mum Emma was thrilled with how much money the trail has generated:
“We’ve loved seeing all the pictures of the Together for Short Lives butterfly travelling across the country! Thank you so much to Morrisons colleagues for all you have done to raise vital funds for families like mine.”
The partnership with Morrisons, which started in February 2022, is raising vital funds for the 54 children’s hospices across the country and helping families make precious memories together. With Morrisons help, we are able to continue reaching out to those families across the UK who don’t know about the support they can access through our helpline and online family support hub, as well as in their local community.
Together for Short Lives Director of Fundraising, Nick Carroll says:
“We have been bowled over by the way that Morrisons colleagues have fundraised and engaged with The Butterfly Trail. We’ve never done a national relay event like this before with a corporate partner, so to see our butterfly flying across the UK generating awareness and raising almost half a million pounds is incredible. A huge thank you to Morrisons colleagues for their amazing fundraising efforts.”
Morrisons Group Operations Director, David Lepley says:
“I am delighted with the success of The Butterfly Trail and very proud that we have raised so much money in a single fundraiser – our largest yet for a charity partner. Every store and site went above and beyond to fundraise and I am thrilled that our partnership total now stands at £6 million. Our colleagues and customers are passionate and dedicated to raising vital funds for Together for Short Lives so that families caring for a child with a life-limiting condition get the support they need.”
Our partnership hopes to raise an amazing £10 million by October 2024.
