Principles of palliative care for children and young people

This interprofessional module will enable practitioners working in palliative care to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills of the nature and scope of palliative care for children and young people. You will explore and examine a range of subjects including grief and loss, cultural issues and interprofessional working and the impact these have on palliative care. You will also be supported in developing your knowledge of professional, legal and ethical issues in this context.

Module Attendance Required

Lectures will be delivered on-line. Subject to numbers face-to-face lectures (also available on-line) will be delivered on weeks 1 and 5 for those able to attend. Although not mandatory, you are actively encouraged to attend these two face-to-face sessions.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development that shows an ability to study at Master’s level. This master’s level module can be taken as an optional module within the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.

Alternatively, this module can be taken within the MSc Advanced Practice in Healthcare (International), MRes Clinical Health Research, or as stand-alone course or CPD module.
