Would you like to work with remarkable colleagues and meet extraordinary families while acting as an advocate for Helen & Douglas House and for Children’s Palliative Care? As one of our Registered Nurses or Children’s Nurses you will have the autonomy and support in place to deliver skilled individualised paediatric nursing service to your patients and work in an area where no day is the same as another.

Helen & Douglas House is a registered hospice charity based in Oxford that aspires to become a centre of clinical excellence for providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and their families. We foster a climate where team members feel able to openly question, debate and appropriately challenge their own and the practice of others. The Helen House Care Team is a unique and vibrant blend of nurses and carers, all of whom share an authentic passion for delivering the highest possible standard of care to patients and their families. A wealth of staff training and support underpins the challenging yet rewarding work that our multi-disciplinary team do. You will be caring for patients to a standard you always hoped would be possible.

As a Registered Nurse in a specialist field, you will be providing holistic, family centred and tailored care to meet the needs of each child and their family; by adapting a flexible approach and employing your excellent communication skills you will act as a resource to help empower and advocate for families. Your key objective of optimising quality of care will include promoting partnership working with the family and other healthcare professionals, volunteers and doctors and putting the best interests of the child at the forefront of care by making informed choices regarding end-of-life care. After assessing the needs of children and families you will work to produce joint plans of care that reflect the family’s wishes and aims to reduce and prevent hospital attendances or admissions.

This is a permanent full-time role, although part-time hours will be considered. This role is Rank 3 and attracts an annual salary of £34,541 to £41,000 per annum pro rata, dependent on experience.
