About us:
Our vision is to ensure that the 99,000 children and young people with life-shortening conditions in the UK have lives that are as fulfilling as possible.
We work with families and the brilliant people and services that support them – in hospitals, in children’s hospices and in the community – to ensure that children and families get the support they need.
The truth is that because of inconsistency in the planning and funding for these services over many years, the support that these families receive depends significantly on where they live and how well they can advocate for themselves. And much of the care they rely on is funded by generous voluntary donations from the public.
We now seek a Philanthropy Manager to help lead the next phase of our development. This is a key appointment for an experienced major donor fundraiser who is looking for a challenge and keen to help shape the development of our philanthropy work.
The role
We are recruiting for a new Philanthropy Manager to join our Fundraising department and help us grow our philanthropy programme. We have started to deliver a new ten-year vision and strategy – Making Every Moment Count; and we have big ambitions to raise more money for our mission and become a great fundraising organisation. We have award winning corporate and trust funding programmes and are looking to develop more substantial funding in both individual giving and philanthropy to deliver our plans.
Historically our philanthropy programme has focused on a large Gala event which has been very successful. The opportunity for the next phase of development is outside of this key moment – identifying, stewarding and cultivating a group of funders with an affinity for our core work. It will involve working collaboratively across our teams to create events and resources to engage supporters and prospects with our core work and projects. If you would like to play a key part in delivering and shaping the next phase of our philanthropy strategy, then we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent communication, organisation and writing skills. Someone with a passion and interest in our cause, who has previously had experience working with high-net-worth audiences. Somebody who is keen to shape plans as well as deliver them.
You will work closely with the Director of Income Generation and Engagement and a VIP Relationship Consultant (who manages relationships with several donors and Patrons), to build on the existing programme and further develop the foundations for income generation. You will find a supportive and collaborative culture from your peers particularly in the areas where we are also developing our approach such as individual giving.
We offer a great reward package, which includes generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme and a staff assistance programme.
We are open to flexible working patterns. Hybrid or remote working is also supported.
We are always looking for talented people, and welcome people regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, faith or belief and sexual orientation. We particularly encourage applications from those with disabilities or from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, as these groups are underrepresented throughout the charity sector.
If you feel you meet some of the criteria but not all, we really hope you’ll enquire and learn more.
To make arrangements for an informal chat with Nick Carroll, Director of Income Generation and Engagement, please contact recruit@togetherforshortlives.org.uk.
