Hope House Children’s Hospices is a special place to work. Our hospices are bright, sunny, child-centred buildings set in spacious grounds, with sensory rooms and hydrotherapy pool. We support more than 750 local families who are either caring for a terminally ill child, or whose child has died. Children and families are the reason we are here and we all have one thing in common, a shared dedication to providing the best care for our children and their families who use our specialist services.

Our caring staff are an integral part of the care we provide at our hospices, we have a friendly and inclusive culture and you will be joining one of the most respected local charities and become part of an incredible team, who will help us deliver our mission and ensure that no one faces the death of a child alone.

About the Nurse role:

Hope House Children’s Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse (Children’s Nurse or Adult Nurse (RN) with paediatric experience) to join our care team to provide excellent specialist palliative and end of life care to children and young people. You will be a self-motivated and compassionate nurse working as part of a supportive team to provide holistic care to children and young people with complex, life-limiting conditions.

We are committed to the development of our nurses and will offer you a comprehensive training package. You will continue to develop your knowledge and clinical skills enabling you to deliver the highest standards of care, which supports our values and ethos that no one should suffer the death of a child alone. Whilst maintaining and enhancing your skills, you will have the opportunity and time to build meaningful relationships with children and their families, which make these incredibly fulfilling roles.

As a valued member of our team, you will be providing care to children and young people who have been diagnosed with life limiting illnesses, examples include cancer, cystic fibrosis, Batten Disease, Muscular Dystrophy and cerebral palsy. You will have the compassion and communication skills to put the needs of the child and their family at the heart of everything you do, so that we are able to provide the right care and support for them, when they need us most.

We are looking for a Nurse who:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the needs of children and young people with life-limiting conditions and children’s palliative care
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Sets high standards of care and is a good role model

What we offer:

In return for your commitment, we offer a great reward package, which includes

  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 34 days per annum for a full time role, with long service increments
  • NHS pension and organisational pension scheme
  • Staff rewards programme
  • Great development opportunities with protected time to complete training
  • We would love to hear from you if you have a positive approach to your work and share our values of providing fair and equitable access to our services for the children, young people and families of Shropshire, Cheshire and Powys. This is a worthwhile challenge and a varied job in which your success will make a real difference, click apply today.
