Magical Skate Day raises £40,000 for seriously ill children

News and comment

We’re thrilled to announce that the BNP Paribas Skate Day held earlier this month raised an incredible £40,000 in support of Together for Short Lives and seriously ill children across the UK!

BNP Paribas hosted a magical Christmas Skating event at Somerset House in London and chose Together for Short Lives as the beneficiary for the event.

Huge thank you to BNP Paribas colleagues and their families for raising such an amazing amount. Every penny will go towards providing essential care and support to families caring for a seriously ill child.

Families and siblings supported by Demelza and Richard House children’s hospices were invited by Together for Short Lives and BNP Paribas to the event for a private hour on the ice, as well as enjoying the other activities on the day such as a Santa’s Grotto, face painting, photo booths and more. 10 families were able to make precious memories and enjoy the magical setting together.

We shared with colleagues an inspiring letter written by Mum Stacey who lost her three year old daughter Tiffany in 2020. Stacey explained why magical days like these are so important for families like hers.

Tiffany would have loved to see the Christmas lights and take in the atmosphere of everyone laughing and coming together. Tiffany’s and many other children’s spirits will be shining on you. It is because of events like these that Together for Short Lives can support families like mine.

Thank you once again to BNP Paribas for inviting Together for Short Lives and families to be part of this special day. Funds raised will go towards supporting the vital work we do across the children’s palliative care sector, to ensure that no family has to suffer through their child’s short life alone.
