Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount, and proud Patron of Together for Short Lives, visited Christopher’s Children’s Hospice, part of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, in Guildford yesterday and enjoyed a very special football-themed afternoon with seriously ill children and their families.
This was Mason’s first visit to a children’s hospice since becoming Patron for Together for Short Lives on his 21st birthday back in January. Together for Short Lives is the UK charity that is here to make sure the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families can make the most of every moment they have together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours. They also raise vital funds and awareness for the UK’s 54 children’s hospices – including Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
I am really passionate about highlighting the lifeline support Together for Short Lives and children’s hospices like Shooting Star Children’s Hospices give to seriously ill children and their families so that every family that needs it can access lifeline care.

Mason enjoyed spending time meeting the hospice care team, as well as children and their families who are supported by the hospice. There were lots of smiles, laughter and stories shared – and the children even got to kick a ball around with Mason and learn some football skills.
Mason Mount, Patron of Together for Short Lives said: “I am really passionate about highlighting the lifeline support Together for Short Lives and children’s hospices like Shooting Star Children’s Hospices give to seriously ill children and their families so that every family that needs it can access lifeline care. It was great to meet the children today and see for myself that children’s hospices are places of warmth, joy and laughter.”
Andy Fletcher, CEO for Together for Short Lives said: “We are so pleased that Mason was able to meet some of the amazing children and families we support and see first-hand the vital care children’s hospices provide. His dedication to raising awareness, so that more families caring for a seriously ill child can access the help they need to make the most of their time together, is invaluable.”
