X Factor Charity Single is Number One
The X Factor charity single is number one in the official UK top 40 chart. 'Wishing on a Star' a cover of the Rose Royce classic sung by the final sixteen contestants with JLS and One Direction has topped the singles chart.
All net record company proceeds are going to Together for Short Lives which works across the UK to help ensure that every child and young person unlikely to reach adulthood, and their family, has the best possible care and support whenever and wherever they need it.
The four semi finalists celebrated backstage before the live show on Sunday evening with a specially created cake in the shape of the charity's butterfly logo.
Little Mix commented, "It's amazing to be number one, we're helping so many kids. It's such a good cause. When you meet these children you realise how privileged you are to have your health."
Fellow finalist Marcus Collins said: "It's a fantastic song choice, filled with hope, something people have clearly picked up on and great that by getting a number one we have helped so many children and their families. "
Misha B "For me there's nothing better than being part of a single that's for such a positive cause."
Barbara Gelb, Chief Executive of Together for Short Lives commented: "We are thrilled to be number one in the UK charts. The money raised from this single gives us the opportunity to improve the lives of children not expected to live to adulthood, and their families, in the UK - and crucially raise awareness of the valuable support they need, wherever they live and for as long as they need it."
The single is available to buy at high street stores including; HMV, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S and Morrisons.
