A whole host of celebrities are helping make every moment count for this year’s Children’s Hospice Week (11-17 May). It’s the only awareness and fundraising week for children with life-limiting conditions and the services, like children’s hospices, that provide a vital lifeline to families. Our Patrons Simon Cowell and Holly Willoughby both shared a memorable moment as part of the campaign.
Children’s Hospice Week 2015 focuses on making every moment count to highlight how precious time is for families caring for a child who may not live to reach adulthood and how children’s hospices help families make the most of their time together. During Children’s Hospice Week, we’re inviting people to share a photo of their memorable moment on social media using #momentscount and text ‘CHWK15 £5’ to 70070 to support children and families.
Celebrities helping make moments count for Children’s Hospice Week this year include: Simon Cowell, Holly Willoughby, Louis Walsh, Alex Corbisiero, Ben Haenow, Rebecca Front, Kate Silverton, Dave Berry, Ben Hanlin, Michael Sheen, Joan Collins, Michael Ball, Bobby Davro and Shane Ritchie.
Patron, Simon Cowell said: “Some of my most memorable moments have been my visits to children’s hospices as Patron of Together for Short Lives. They are such happy, positive places helping families caring for a child that may not reach adulthood make the most of their time together. Please support Children’s Hospice Week this year, because moments count.”
Louis Walsh, said: “My most memorable moment was on X Factor when Sharon Osbourne and I were giggling after one of the auditions and then she walked into a door, we couldn’t stop laughing for hours. It’s one of my favourite moments from X Factor, and fortunately the cameras managed to catch it happen!”
Alex Corbisiero, said: “My most memorable moment was playing in the third British Lions test match against Australia in July 2013 in Sydney, in victory we secured the first Lions test series win for 16 years. I’ve seen for myself what positive places children’s hospices are, focusing on helping children and families make the most of their time together. Please join me in supporting Children’s Hospice Week this year, because moments count.”
Ben Haenow said: “My most memorable moment for me has to, of course, be winning The X Factor 2014. Words cannot describe the feelings of nerves and excitement you get as you stand there waiting for Dermot to announce the winner. Truly an amazing moment that has really changed my life.”

Many children with a life-limiting condition need round the clock care – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The UK’s 53 children’s hospices and other palliative care services help families make every moment count and help make special memories.
