Stars to join forces for return of ITV’s charity fundraiser Text Santa

News and comment

2012 sees the return of ITV’s charity appeal Text Santa, which promises to deliver some of the most exciting and anticipated television over the Christmas period, whilst also raising money for six UK based charities. A raft of ITV’s most popular shows and faces will get together for a fun-filled night.

The live entertainment extravaganza will air on Friday 21st December, with many of ITV’s best-loved presenters introducing star guests, live performances and special mini episodes of ITV’s biggest shows.

Text Santa will raise awareness and money in the run up to the show and during the evening itself, for a group of specially chosen charities offering life-changing services to vulnerable people throughout the UK. This year’s charities are Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Together for Short Lives and Whizz-Kidz.

Peter Fincham, ITV Director of Television said: “Text Santa provides an exciting platform for our biggest shows, brightest talent, dedicated staff and of course our fantastic viewers to come together and embrace the true spirit of Christmas. Having raised just over £4m on its launch last year, I’ve no doubt that this year’s great causes and the entertainment line up we’re planning will make Text Santa 2012 an even bigger success.”

Viewers will be able to donate money throughout the campaign via text using JustTextGiving by Vodafone.

The show will be supported by a major on-air campaign on ITV1, as well as across a range of programming in the ITV1, STV and UTV schedules.

Text Santa will be produced for ITV1 by ITV Studios.
