John Overton began his career as a chartered accountant before successfully establishing his own business and developing a major children’s charity from conception to international recognition.
In 1983 John joined Acorns Children’s Hospice as Hon. Treasurer, Chairman of the Appeal Committee and a Trustee. He was then elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees when the hospice was opened in 1988.
He then held a paid consultancy role before becoming Chief Executive in 1994. John developed the strategy and created a management structure that helped position Acorns as a model for later children’s hospices.
John is now a self employed consultant specialising in senior recruitment, capital appeals, fundraising strategy and general management.
