On Thursday (29 September) Together for Short Lives Patron Holly Willoughby took to the trading floor at BGC Partners in London for their amazing charity day, in memory of the colleagues that they lost in New York on 9/11.
This is the fifth year that Holly has taken part in the charity day on our behalf. Each year the day sees brokerage firm BGC Partners welcome a whole host of charities and their ambassadors onto their trading floor to raise money for lots of good causes. All traders’ commission earned on the day is donated to the charities taking part – last year’s BGC Charity Day raised £42,000 for Together for Short Lives
This year all the money we receive will go towards our Butterfly Fund, a special financial grant for parents following the death of their child. This grant can be spent however families choose but is often spent on special memorials to remember the child they have lost. You can find out more about how the Fund can help families in Violet’s story here.
Also representing Together for Short Lives at the event were Nadia Slatch and her son Rayyan, and Emily Delamaine and her daughters Penelope and Ameila. Both Rayyan and Amelia have life-limiting conditions, and both families have received received support from Together for Short Lives in the past. Holly was honoured to meet Nadia and Emily and be introduced to their families, and a highlight of the event was Holly getting a chance to play with Amelia and Rayyan. Read more about Amelia’s story and Rayyan’s story.
We are extremely grateful to BGC Partners and all their staff for an unforgettable day.
