Should relatives be made welcome in a resuscitation room to witness emergency medical treatment of a family member? This is a major issue in emergency departments worldwide. Attitudes of staff and relatives are mixed, and the benefits suggest further long-term research is needed to review the psychological effects on loved ones. This article will considers the background of witnessed resuscitation, as well as the views of both staff and relatives involved.
